This page is for Industrial Electrician work at Jubail. The same trade is hired at other locations too — see below.

About the job

AKFAL electricians install and maintain LV and MV distribution, motors, lighting and cable systems at plants, camps and project sites. Much of the plant work is in classified (Ex) areas, so glanding, termination and inspection to the hazardous-area standard is part of the daily job, always under a permit and with the circuit isolated and proved dead.

What you will do

  • Install and terminate LV/MV cables, glands and panels to drawings
  • Maintain motors, starters, MCCs and lighting circuits
  • Isolate, lock out and test dead before any work
  • Inspect and maintain Ex-rated equipment in hazardous areas
  • Fault-find with meters and record readings on the job card

What we look for

  • 3 years or more as an industrial electrician (plant, oil and gas or construction power)
  • Reads single-line diagrams and cable schedules
  • Knows LOTO and permit-to-work practice
  • Hazardous-area (Ex) awareness is a plus; CompEx is a strong plus
  • Basic English or Arabic for permits

Certificates that help

  • Electrical trade certificate or diploma
  • CompEx or equivalent hazardous-area certificate, if held
  • LOTO and permit-to-work training
  • Client site induction, if held

Working in Jubail

Jubail Industrial City is where AKFAL is based and where most of its crews work. The city holds the SABIC affiliates, Sadara, SATORP and dozens of petrochemical, fertiliser and steel plants, each with its own maintenance contractors and its own shutdown calendar. Crews live in AKFAL's camp nearby and reach site by company bus.

Plants and projects

  • SABIC affiliates (Petrokemya, Kayan, Sharq, Kemya, Hadeed and others)
  • Sadara Chemical Company
  • SATORP refinery (Aramco – TotalEnergies)
  • Sipchem, Tasnee, Advanced Petrochemical, Farabi
  • Marafiq utilities and the Jubail desalination plants
  • Amiral petrochemical complex (under construction)

Typical work

  • Turnaround and shutdown crews for the petrochemical complexes
  • Maintenance contracts on rotating equipment
  • Piping fabrication and repair in the AKFAL workshop
  • Scaffolding, rigging and crane hire inside running plants
When demand peaks
Shutdowns cluster in spring and autumn, when plants take their planned outages; demand for welders, fitters and scaffolders peaks from February to April and from September to November.
Accommodation and transport
AKFAL's managed camp is within reach of Jubail Industrial City, with mess hall, laundry and daily buses to the plants.

Questions applicants ask

Do I need experience?

Yes — three years or more in industrial or construction electrical work. Domestic wiring experience alone does not pass the test.

Which certificates do I need?

A trade certificate is expected. Hazardous-area certification such as CompEx is not mandatory but is the single most valuable extra for plant work.

Iqama, transfer and visa

Electricians already in Saudi Arabia with a transferable Iqama are placed first. Overseas hiring runs through licensed agencies with no cost to you.

Hours and shifts

Camp and plant maintenance run regular day shifts; project and shutdown work runs extended shifts with paid overtime.

Where would I live in Jubail?

AKFAL's managed camp is within reach of Jubail Industrial City, with mess hall, laundry and daily buses to the plants.

How is salary decided?

Fixed from the trade test, certificates and experience, and confirmed in writing before you accept. Not published.
