This page is for Industrial Electrician work at Jafurah. The same trade is hired at other locations too — see below.
About the job
AKFAL electricians install and maintain LV and MV distribution, motors, lighting and cable systems at plants, camps and project sites. Much of the plant work is in classified (Ex) areas, so glanding, termination and inspection to the hazardous-area standard is part of the daily job, always under a permit and with the circuit isolated and proved dead.
What you will do
- Install and terminate LV/MV cables, glands and panels to drawings
- Maintain motors, starters, MCCs and lighting circuits
- Isolate, lock out and test dead before any work
- Inspect and maintain Ex-rated equipment in hazardous areas
- Fault-find with meters and record readings on the job card
What we look for
- 3 years or more as an industrial electrician (plant, oil and gas or construction power)
- Reads single-line diagrams and cable schedules
- Knows LOTO and permit-to-work practice
- Hazardous-area (Ex) awareness is a plus; CompEx is a strong plus
- Basic English or Arabic for permits
Certificates that help
- Electrical trade certificate or diploma
- CompEx or equivalent hazardous-area certificate, if held
- LOTO and permit-to-work training
- Client site induction, if held
Working in Jafurah
The Jafurah gas field, south-east of Al-Ahsa, is being developed in phases by Saudi Aramco with international EPC contractors. It is a construction environment rather than a running plant: gas processing trains, pipelines, compression and utilities being built at the same time, which means sustained demand for welders, pipe fitters, riggers, scaffolders, electricians and certified operators over several years.
Plants and projects
- Jafurah gas processing plant and compression facilities
- Field gathering pipelines and well sites
- Utilities, power and water infrastructure for the field
- EPC contractor camps and laydown yards
Typical work
- Construction crews for piping, structural and electrical scopes
- Pre-commissioning and commissioning support
- Crane, telehandler and heavy-transport hire to EPC contractors
- Camp and catering services for project workforces
- When demand peaks
- Project phases set the demand rather than plant shutdowns; mobilisation runs in waves as each package moves from civil to mechanical to commissioning.
- Accommodation and transport
- Workforces live in project camps at the field; AKFAL mobilises crews from Jubail with transport and accommodation arranged under the contract.
Questions applicants ask
Do I need experience?
Yes — three years or more in industrial or construction electrical work. Domestic wiring experience alone does not pass the test.
Which certificates do I need?
A trade certificate is expected. Hazardous-area certification such as CompEx is not mandatory but is the single most valuable extra for plant work.
Iqama, transfer and visa
Electricians already in Saudi Arabia with a transferable Iqama are placed first. Overseas hiring runs through licensed agencies with no cost to you.
Hours and shifts
Camp and plant maintenance run regular day shifts; project and shutdown work runs extended shifts with paid overtime.
Where would I live in Jafurah?
Workforces live in project camps at the field; AKFAL mobilises crews from Jubail with transport and accommodation arranged under the contract.
How is salary decided?
Fixed from the trade test, certificates and experience, and confirmed in writing before you accept. Not published.
