This page is for QA/QC Inspector work at Jafurah. The same trade is hired at other locations too — see below.
About the job
QA/QC inspectors at AKFAL witness fit-up and welding, review welder qualifications and WPS/PQR packs, inspect coating and dimensions, and compile the quality dossier the client's QA department will ask for. They work with the client's inspectors, not against them: a rejection found by us costs an hour; one found by the client costs the contract.
What you will do
- Witness fit-up, welding and NDT; review reports and mark up isometrics
- Check WPS, PQR and welder qualification records before work starts
- Inspect surface preparation and coating thickness with calibrated gauges
- Verify dimensions against drawings and record on inspection reports
- Compile quality dossiers and material certificates for handover
What we look for
- 5 years or more in QA/QC on piping, structural or coating work
- CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI for welding inspectors; NACE / BGAS for coating inspectors
- Reads codes: ASME B31.3, ASME IX, AWS D1.1, client specifications
- Strong written English for reports
- Computer literacy for dossiers and registers
Certificates that help
- CSWIP 3.1 / AWS CWI (welding)
- NACE Level 2 or BGAS Grade 2 (coating)
- NDT Level II in any method, a plus
- Client QA/QC approval, if held
Working in Jafurah
The Jafurah gas field, south-east of Al-Ahsa, is being developed in phases by Saudi Aramco with international EPC contractors. It is a construction environment rather than a running plant: gas processing trains, pipelines, compression and utilities being built at the same time, which means sustained demand for welders, pipe fitters, riggers, scaffolders, electricians and certified operators over several years.
Plants and projects
- Jafurah gas processing plant and compression facilities
- Field gathering pipelines and well sites
- Utilities, power and water infrastructure for the field
- EPC contractor camps and laydown yards
Typical work
- Construction crews for piping, structural and electrical scopes
- Pre-commissioning and commissioning support
- Crane, telehandler and heavy-transport hire to EPC contractors
- Camp and catering services for project workforces
- When demand peaks
- Project phases set the demand rather than plant shutdowns; mobilisation runs in waves as each package moves from civil to mechanical to commissioning.
- Accommodation and transport
- Workforces live in project camps at the field; AKFAL mobilises crews from Jubail with transport and accommodation arranged under the contract.
Questions applicants ask
Do I need experience?
Yes — five or more years in quality inspection, plus a recognised certificate. This is a certified role, not a trade-test role.
Which certificates do I need?
CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI for welding, NACE or BGAS for coating. Without one of these the application cannot proceed.
Iqama, transfer and visa
Inspectors with a transferable Iqama first; overseas recruitment through licensed agencies with visa costs paid by AKFAL.
Hours and shifts
Day shifts on most contracts; shutdown inspection follows the welding crews' extended shifts with paid overtime.
Where would I live in Jafurah?
Workforces live in project camps at the field; AKFAL mobilises crews from Jubail with transport and accommodation arranged under the contract.
How is salary decided?
Set individually from certificates and experience and fixed in the written offer. Not published.
