This page is for Crane Operator work at Jafurah. The same trade is hired at other locations too — see below.
About the job
AKFAL's rental division runs mobile cranes from 25 to 100 tonnes, each with a third-party certificate and an operator who holds the client's approval. Operators work from the rigger's lift plan, check the crane daily, and refuse a lift that the chart does not allow — the operator's signature on the daily check is what keeps the fleet on approved lists.
What you will do
- Operate mobile cranes to the lift plan and load chart
- Carry out and record daily pre-use checks
- Set up the crane: outriggers, mats, ground conditions, exclusion zone
- Work with the rigger and banksman on radio and hand signals
- Report defects and keep the crane logbook
What we look for
- 5 years or more operating mobile cranes on industrial sites
- Saudi heavy-equipment driving licence
- Third-party operator certificate; Aramco crane operator card is a strong plus
- Reads load charts and lift plans
- Basic English or Arabic for radio and permits
Certificates that help
- Third-party crane operator certificate
- Aramco / SABIC crane operator approval, if held
- Saudi heavy-equipment licence
- Rigging and signalling awareness
Working in Jafurah
The Jafurah gas field, south-east of Al-Ahsa, is being developed in phases by Saudi Aramco with international EPC contractors. It is a construction environment rather than a running plant: gas processing trains, pipelines, compression and utilities being built at the same time, which means sustained demand for welders, pipe fitters, riggers, scaffolders, electricians and certified operators over several years.
Plants and projects
- Jafurah gas processing plant and compression facilities
- Field gathering pipelines and well sites
- Utilities, power and water infrastructure for the field
- EPC contractor camps and laydown yards
Typical work
- Construction crews for piping, structural and electrical scopes
- Pre-commissioning and commissioning support
- Crane, telehandler and heavy-transport hire to EPC contractors
- Camp and catering services for project workforces
- When demand peaks
- Project phases set the demand rather than plant shutdowns; mobilisation runs in waves as each package moves from civil to mechanical to commissioning.
- Accommodation and transport
- Workforces live in project camps at the field; AKFAL mobilises crews from Jubail with transport and accommodation arranged under the contract.
Questions applicants ask
Do I need experience?
Yes — five or more years on mobile cranes, with a valid certificate and Saudi heavy licence. Tower or overhead crane experience alone does not qualify for the mobile fleet.
Which certificates do I need?
A third-party operator certificate and a Saudi heavy licence are required. An Aramco operator card lets you work on Aramco sites from day one.
Iqama, transfer and visa
Operators inside the Kingdom with a transferable Iqama and a Saudi licence are mobilised fastest. Overseas operators are recruited through licensed agencies and licensed locally after arrival.
Hours and shifts
Rental work follows the client's schedule: day shifts normally, extended shifts with paid overtime during shutdowns.
Where would I live in Jafurah?
Workforces live in project camps at the field; AKFAL mobilises crews from Jubail with transport and accommodation arranged under the contract.
How is salary decided?
Set by certificate, crane class and experience and fixed in the written offer. Not published.
