This page is for Scaffolder work at Jafurah. The same trade is hired at other locations too — see below.

About the job

Scaffolders are among the first crews on every shutdown and the last to leave. AKFAL scaffolders erect, modify and dismantle tube-and-coupler and system scaffolds to the client's standard, tag them, and inspect them daily under a scaffold supervisor. Speed matters, but a green tag on an unsafe platform is the one thing that ends a contract.

What you will do

  • Erect, alter and dismantle scaffolds to the design and the site standard
  • Inspect and tag scaffolds; keep the scaffold register
  • Handle and store tubes, boards, couplers and system components
  • Work at height with full fall protection at all times
  • Follow permit and exclusion-zone rules around live plant

What we look for

  • 2 years or more scaffolding on industrial sites
  • Scaffolder certificate (level II or III); supervisor certificate for lead roles
  • Physically fit for height and heavy handling
  • Understands scaffold tagging and inspection
  • Basic English or Arabic for tags and permits

Certificates that help

  • Scaffolder Level II / III certificate
  • Scaffold supervisor / inspector certificate for lead roles
  • Aramco scaffold certification, if held
  • Work-at-height and harness training

Working in Jafurah

The Jafurah gas field, south-east of Al-Ahsa, is being developed in phases by Saudi Aramco with international EPC contractors. It is a construction environment rather than a running plant: gas processing trains, pipelines, compression and utilities being built at the same time, which means sustained demand for welders, pipe fitters, riggers, scaffolders, electricians and certified operators over several years.

Plants and projects

  • Jafurah gas processing plant and compression facilities
  • Field gathering pipelines and well sites
  • Utilities, power and water infrastructure for the field
  • EPC contractor camps and laydown yards

Typical work

  • Construction crews for piping, structural and electrical scopes
  • Pre-commissioning and commissioning support
  • Crane, telehandler and heavy-transport hire to EPC contractors
  • Camp and catering services for project workforces
When demand peaks
Project phases set the demand rather than plant shutdowns; mobilisation runs in waves as each package moves from civil to mechanical to commissioning.
Accommodation and transport
Workforces live in project camps at the field; AKFAL mobilises crews from Jubail with transport and accommodation arranged under the contract.

Questions applicants ask

Do I need experience?

Two or more years on industrial scaffolds with a certificate. Helpers without a certificate can apply as scaffold helpers and train up.

Which certificates do I need?

A scaffolder certificate is required; a supervisor or inspector certificate qualifies you for lead roles and better pay.

Iqama, transfer and visa

Scaffolders with a transferable Iqama are mobilised first; overseas recruitment runs through licensed agencies with no cost to you.

Hours and shifts

Shutdown scaffolding runs extended day and night shifts with paid overtime; maintenance contracts run regular days.

Where would I live in Jafurah?

Workforces live in project camps at the field; AKFAL mobilises crews from Jubail with transport and accommodation arranged under the contract.

How is salary decided?
