This page is for Forklift & Telehandler Operator work at Dammam. The same trade is hired at other locations too — see below.

About the job

Forklift and telehandler operators move materials in AKFAL's yard and warehouse and on client sites and laydown areas. The telehandler work is rough-terrain: placing loads at height on scaffolds and platforms, which needs an operator who understands the load chart as well as the machine.

What you will do

  • Operate forklifts and telehandlers safely within the load chart
  • Load, unload and stack materials in yards, warehouses and laydown areas
  • Carry out daily checks and report defects
  • Follow site traffic rules, banksman signals and exclusion zones
  • Keep loads secured and the work area tidy

What we look for

  • 2 years or more operating forklifts or telehandlers on industrial sites
  • Third-party operator certificate; Saudi heavy licence for telehandlers
  • Reads load charts
  • Alert to pedestrians and site traffic
  • Basic English or Arabic

Certificates that help

  • Forklift operator certificate
  • Telehandler operator certificate
  • Saudi driving licence (heavy for telehandler)
  • Site traffic and banksman awareness

Working in Dammam

Dammam and the Dammam–Khobar–Dhahran metro area hold the Second and Third Industrial Cities, King Abdulaziz Port, power and desalination plants, and the regional offices of the EPC and maintenance contractors AKFAL works with. The work is more varied than in Jubail: factory maintenance, warehousing and logistics, utilities and camp services alongside plant trades.

Plants and projects

  • Dammam Second and Third Industrial Cities (MODON)
  • King Abdulaziz Port and logistics zones
  • Qurayyah and Ras Tanura power and refining sites nearby
  • Saudi Aramco and contractor headquarters in Dhahran and Khobar
  • Steel, pipe and fabrication factories

Typical work

  • Factory maintenance: mechanical, electrical and instrumentation
  • Warehouse and yard operations with forklifts and telehandlers
  • Heavy transport between the port, Jubail and project sites
  • Fabrication and coating work for regional projects
When demand peaks
Demand is steady through the year with peaks when Jubail and Ras Tanura shutdowns pull crews from the region.
Accommodation and transport
Crews are housed in AKFAL accommodation in Jubail or Dammam depending on the contract, with daily transport.

Questions applicants ask

Do I need experience?

Two or more years with a certificate. Warehouse-only experience qualifies for forklift roles; telehandler roles need rough-terrain experience.

Which certificates do I need?

A third-party operator certificate is required; a Saudi licence is needed to drive on site roads.

Iqama, transfer and visa

Operators with a transferable Iqama are placed first; overseas recruitment runs through licensed agencies with no cost to you.

Hours and shifts

Yard and warehouse work runs regular days; site work follows the client's shifts with paid overtime.

Where would I live in Dammam?

Crews are housed in AKFAL accommodation in Jubail or Dammam depending on the contract, with daily transport.

How is salary decided?

Fixed from certificate and experience in the written offer. Not published.
