This page is for Heavy Truck Driver work at Dammam. The same trade is hired at other locations too — see below.

About the job

AKFAL's transport fleet moves plant, materials and crews between Jubail, Ras Al Khair, Dammam and project sites. Heavy truck drivers haul equipment on lowbeds, run flatbed deliveries and operate dump trucks and tankers on site — under journey-management rules, with a valid Saudi heavy licence and a clean record.

What you will do

  • Drive flatbed and lowbed trailers, dump trucks and tankers to journey-management rules
  • Secure loads with chains and straps; check before every departure
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects
  • Follow client site traffic rules and speed limits
  • Keep trip logs, delivery notes and fuel records

What we look for

  • 3 years or more driving heavy trucks or trailers in Saudi Arabia
  • Valid Saudi heavy driving licence
  • Clean traffic record
  • Knows load securing and lowbed loading
  • Basic Arabic or English

Certificates that help

  • Saudi heavy driving licence
  • Defensive driving certificate, a plus
  • Load securing / lowbed training
  • Client journey-management induction, if held

Working in Dammam

Dammam and the Dammam–Khobar–Dhahran metro area hold the Second and Third Industrial Cities, King Abdulaziz Port, power and desalination plants, and the regional offices of the EPC and maintenance contractors AKFAL works with. The work is more varied than in Jubail: factory maintenance, warehousing and logistics, utilities and camp services alongside plant trades.

Plants and projects

  • Dammam Second and Third Industrial Cities (MODON)
  • King Abdulaziz Port and logistics zones
  • Qurayyah and Ras Tanura power and refining sites nearby
  • Saudi Aramco and contractor headquarters in Dhahran and Khobar
  • Steel, pipe and fabrication factories

Typical work

  • Factory maintenance: mechanical, electrical and instrumentation
  • Warehouse and yard operations with forklifts and telehandlers
  • Heavy transport between the port, Jubail and project sites
  • Fabrication and coating work for regional projects
When demand peaks
Demand is steady through the year with peaks when Jubail and Ras Tanura shutdowns pull crews from the region.
Accommodation and transport
Crews are housed in AKFAL accommodation in Jubail or Dammam depending on the contract, with daily transport.

Questions applicants ask

Do I need experience?

Yes — three or more years on heavy trucks in the Kingdom with a Saudi heavy licence. A licence from another country must be converted before you can drive.

Which certificates do I need?

The Saudi heavy licence is the requirement; a defensive-driving certificate is a plus.

Iqama, transfer and visa

Drivers already in Saudi Arabia with a transferable Iqama and a Saudi licence are placed first. Saudi nationals are especially welcome for driver roles.

Hours and shifts

Day shifts with occasional long-distance trips; night driving only under journey-management approval. Overtime is paid.

Where would I live in Dammam?

Crews are housed in AKFAL accommodation in Jubail or Dammam depending on the contract, with daily transport.

How is salary decided?

Set by licence class and experience and fixed in the written offer. Not published.
